Statement of Intent

Statement of Intent The brief requested that I make two front covers and two contents pages of a new youth magazine with a 16-25-year-old mass demographic. The brief also stated that I needed to make a website with one homepage, one linked page and all products must have a clear sense of branding. My audience are aged 16-25, not gender specific, therefore I will make sure to include headlines that I feel would apply to this age range. Using my magazine front cover analysis skills, I will be including content such as confessions, exam tips and how to take care of the environment. As it is a lifestyle magazine for “fun loving” young people, I shall make sure to cover upcoming events in Norfolk and Suffolk (due to it being a regional magazine) as well as fashion and what’s on trend. I will make sure to represent my trendy audience in a positive way. My audience mood board reflects this-I have included logos from shops they may shop at that are labelled more ‘edgy’ and fashionable by ...

Analysis of Websites

Image
A-Level Media Studies:   Analysing a Webpage People Magazine https://people.com/ This website focuses on news about celebrities, the royals, music, TV and ‘real people’. There are several tabs for easy access on the top of the page including ‘news’, ‘entertainment’, ‘shopping’ and ‘PeopleTV’ where the magazine broadens their brand by airing live shows, available to watch on many major platforms such as Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV. With technology advancing this is an effective way for magazines to stay in the loop as well as having their website. These links are advertised underneath this tab. At the bottom of the page, much like many websites there are links to their social medias to again broaden their brand and reach individuals who use apps such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook as their main form of news and communication. During a 2019 survey, more than 70 percent of respondents from Mexico, South Africa, Chile, and Bulgaria stated that they used social media as...

Planning for Front Cover

PLANNING FOR MY FRONT COVER These images include a lot of experimental work on my front cover pages. In the first I tried using different layers in red, green and blue colours to create a 3D effect which I thought looked edgy and therefore draws in teenagers who find this aesthetically pleasing. In the third image you can see that I have attempted a shadow like effect with Ombre in the background and using lines to draw attention to the middle image. I did like how this turned out however I found it to be too 'loud' for a front cover. I also found the image goes against typical front cover conventions-there are two people instead of one and no direct address to the camera. The experiment helped me learn more about photoshop and I may use the image in a front cover page as I was pleased with the outcome. In the second to last image of the two girls I experimented with different hues rather than just basic black and white or colour images to make my magazine stand out from...
